Results from Saturday’s GCGC Championships

Thank you to everyone that joined us this past Saturday for some cheering, laughing, golfing, and relationship building (in that order).

Below are the results from the day.  All monies will be awarded via club credit.

  • Pin Events ($10 each):
    • #2, Closest to the Pin (Men):  Rich Shell, 6’9″
    • #3, Long Drive (Women):  Jennifer McAlexander
    • #4, Long Drive (Men):  Jeff Opheim
    • #5, Long Putt (Women):  Gitana Kehoe
    • #8, Closest to the 150 (All):  Katy Wells
    • #9, Closest to the Pin (Women):  Lisa Hart, 16’8″
  • Flights
    • 3rd Place, 1st Flight:  Thomas and Stephanie Lair (99) – $50
    • 2nd Place, 1st Flight:  Troy and Jessica Dillon (98) – $75
    • 1st Place, 1st Flight:  Rich and Barb Shell (91) – $125
    • 3rd Place, Championship Flight:  Cade German/McKenzie Elliott (81) – $50
    • 2nd Place, Championship Flight:  Shane and Lisa Hart (80) – $75
    • 2023 CHAMPIONS:  Jeff and Cynthia Opheim (73) – $125

Jeff and Cynthia call Austin, TX home, but were spending some time in West Des Moines when they heard of the tournament and decided to play.  Jeff had played in the Larry Crawford State Pee Wee in 1968, placing 2nd, so it was nice for him to come back 55 years later to win the tournament!
