The Goat

The Goat

August 21st and 22nd

In the early 1900’s many country clubs had “goat trophies”.  Players would play during the year collecting coins, and at the end of season, the winner would receive “The Goat Trophy”.  We happen to have one of the original trophies from 1915, dating back 111 years ago!

In present day, the G.O.A.T. is commonly referenced now as the Greatest of All Time.  Why not bring this back alongside one of our favorite events, the Member-Guest!

We will have this 2-day member-guest style event on Friday, August 21st, and Saturday, August 2nd. Glen Sieck is helping organize this event alongside his nephew and GCGC employee Colton Sieck.  Please reach out with interest, or better yet, fill out the RSVP form below.

Format

  • 24, 2-player teams
  • 3, 9-hole matches on Friday (lunch included)
  • 2, 9-hole matches on Saturday followed by a shootout (lunch included)
  • $500/team

Construction on 16th Ave

Construction on 16th Ave

Please be aware that construction on 16th Ave has started and may impact play on #3.  The road traditionally acts as the course’s northern border, but equipment and ground repair are happening on the south side of the road.  As such, the course will implement the following rule changes while this happens:

  • If a ball is witnessed crossing the road, it is out of bounds.
  • Any ball that comes to rest in the construction area is in Ground Under Repair.  Golfers may retrieve their ball if they can do so safely.  If construction equipment is present, please refrain from walking into the construction area.
  • If you are unclear whether the ball is in the repair area or if it crossed the road, the ball will be deemed out of bounce.  You must be “virtually certain” it is in the repair area to be granted free relief.

Mini Tees: From Debris to Pristine

Mini Tees on All Par 3s

We’ve added new mini tees on all par 3 holes (and #1) to help reduce broken tee clutter. This small change has a big impact: cleaner teeing areas, fewer issues for grounds equipment, reduced labor, and lower costs associated with providing complimentary tees.

Using them is simple:
Open the sand/seed container, grab a mini tee, take your shot, and drop it back in the basket when you’re finished. They’re durable and rarely break.

Side Note: If you take a divot, please replace it and apply sand/seed to help the area recover. With a little care, it will be good as new in just a few days.

This is an easy, cost-effective step that helps keep our tee boxes pristine—thanks for doing your part!
